Build Quality

Our standard tray comes with a 3mm checker plate deck for strength and practicality. You do have the option of upgrading to a 4mm or 5mm flat or checker deck. The headboard comes standard with 76mm tubing, but once again, you can upgrade to a 75x50mm or 75x75mm box headboard.
All drop sides and tailgates are 3mm thick with a 45mm returned box section at the top and the bottom for added strength.

Securely fastened with stainless over centre latch and catch plates and hinged using 35x35mm welded plates with quick release bolt through system which adds a tough, aesthetic appeal.
The trays are fully welded using double-pulse mig welds on our T6 – 6000 structural grade sub-frame. Welds are structurally stronger than bolts and screws, won’t move and definitely won’t rattle.

Many factory supplied trays are off-the-shelf bolt together trays made out of a lessor grade alloy. Some use riveted plastic hinges which can deteriorate over time and heavy use. Buffalo trays use a minimum 3mm marine grade alloy and are fully welded for strength and durability. Factory supplied trays tend to rattle and shake when the vehicle is idling, whereas a Buffalo tray will sit solidly on your vehicle waiting to go to work. We always have trays and canopies at various stages of their build in the yard that you can come and look over. We are located at 6 Harvest Road Yandina on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The main advantage of a Buffalo tray over the vehicles Ute tub is the carry space. The standard dual cab Buffalo tray is 1900mm wide and 1800mm long. Some popular models are increasing their stance to allow a 2000mm wide tray. This alone can give you up to 500mm in width or more and 300mm in length usable carry space.

The second advantage a Buffalo tray offers over a Ute tub is more storage options. On the deck we can install a full-size canopy or a mini canopy. There is the option of having a lock box or dog crate. For tradies we have our heavy-duty on-deck tool boxes. Under the tray we can install a trundle drawer or extra water or diesel tanks because there is room between the tray and the chassis and we can mount tool boxes at the back for extra storage.

The third advantage is that a Buffalo Tray is a lot stronger than the factory tub that comes with most vehicles without the extra weight that comes with a steel tray. It takes a very hard impact to ding a Buffalo tray with the fully-welded construction and reinforced sub frame.

Yes, they can. In fact, over 75% of our customers want their new Buffalo build to be painted or powder coated to match their vehicle. Whether you prefer one colour, two-toned, or a combination of raw alloy and your vehicles colour, we can finish off your build to give you the exact look you are after.

Established in 2009 we quickly outgrew our original first few premises and made the move to our current location in Yandina where the business has gone from strength to strength. Built on the foundation of providing a great product, with great service at a fair price and we like to support other Australian companies where possible.

This is entirely up to you. If your vehicle arrives with a tub or tray, we will remove it for a small fee. If you would like to take it with you, bring 4 pallets when you drop the vehicle off for fitting so we can load your old tub or tray back onto your vehicle on the new tray. If you don’t want to take the tub home, we will dispose of it.
